Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to the Pearl of Africa
Wildlife Encounter Safaris will have a representative enthusiastically awaiting your arrival at Entebbe International Airport to transfer you to your hotel. By the time the majority of flights reach in the afternoon or evening, it is too late to drive to the national park. You will therefore arrive, spend the night in Entebbe and prepare for the following day’s existence.
Day 2: Transfer to the home of chimpanzees
You will be set to depart for Kibale forest, the primate capital of the world, after breakfast. The journey through the countryside brings you to your hotel in the late afternoon, after a lunch-break in the charming Fort Portal city. Upon arrival at your accommodation, you will have ample time to explore the surrounding area or simply relax at the lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest
Chimpanzee Tracking!! After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing before embarking on your chimpanzee trekking excursion. Your experienced ranger guide will lead you through the tropical forest in search of man’s closest relatives – the chimpanzees. Such a rewarding, memorable experience! Ounce you finally meet them, you are only allowed one hour with them before you leave the forest.
After lunch, you will take a walk to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This wetland walk brings you closer to nature where you encounter a variety of bird species. You may see red-tailed primates, Mangabeys, a variety of avian species, and butterflies. You will also have the chance to visit the community and participate in a coffee tasting, banana fermentation, basket making, and traditional healers. The proceeds from this visit go toward enhancing community development.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. The Bwindi impenetrable forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to numerous species of trees, birds, primates, mammals, and insects, among others. Depending on which part of Bwindi you will be tracking in, you may travel through the park on the way to your destination.
Day 5: Uganda Gorilla Trekking
Gorilla Trekking! Gorillas are amazing, high-energy creatures that are nevertheless known as the gentle giants. After an early breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area, where you will be assigned gorilla families with a ranger guide to lead you through the forest. After briefing on the do’s and don’ts in the jungle, you will be slipt into various groups to trek a particular gorilla family.
Once you have located the gorillas with the assistance of your guide and trackers, you are only permitted one hour with the gentle giants, watching them feed and play. Depending on where gorillas nested the previous night, the gorilla trek can range from a few minutes to several hours. We recommend that you bring along a porter to help carry your daypack and guide you through the forest’s precipitous terrain.
Day 6: Depart to Kampala
After breakfast, drive back to Kampala /Entebbe, with a lunch break in Mbarara and photographs at the Equator, where you can also purchase souvenirs. Proceed to Kampala and drop off at your accommodation within the city centre.
