8 Days /7 Night
Day 1: Kigali Airport – Kigali
Upon your arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be welcomed by our representative who will transfer you to the city centre for a city tour if time allows.
You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali City Centre
Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, we drive to Butare, where we will be able to visit the National Museum and Nyanza Hill. Thereafter, we will go to Nyungwe Forest for exciting chimpanzee encounters the following morning.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest
Depart for an early morning Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park. On this adventure, you will encounter several other monkey species. Optional activities include hike to the waterfall or visiting the Angolan Black Colobus monkeys.
This forested park is one of the largest in East Africa with 13 monkey species, including chimpanzees and the endangered Angolan Black Colobus Monkeys for you to experience.
Day 4: Full day in Nyungwe Forest
Optional activities on this day include; a Canopy walk, visiting the waterfalls or simply a nature walk for primate and bird watching. Only one activity is included.
Day 5: Nyungwe Forest – Kibuye (Lake Kivu)
Drive to Kibuye, Lake Kivu where you can relax, enjoy the breeze and serenity at this beautiful lake. You can have an optional boat trip on the lake or take a walk along the shores or visit the neighboring villages.
Day 6: Kibuye – Volcanoes National Park
This day after breakfast, we drive to Volcanoes National Park where it is possible to visit a local community and experience the Pygmies’ local way of living. Return to your accommodation and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Volcanoes National park is part of the Virunga Mountains that cover Uganda, Rwanda and Congo and where the endangered Mountain Gorillas are found. Also, the lively endemic Golden Monkeys and other monkey species can be found in this unique jungle.
Day 7: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National park
An early breakfast followed by transfer to the park headquarters for briefing on the tracker’s code of conduct. You will then head into the forest for your Gorilla trekking adventure. Trekking may take about 2-4hrs.
You will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour for viewing these fascinating and endangered creatures, an escapade you will never forget! Thereafter, return to the starting point for your gorilla trekking certificate and later trek back to the lodge where you will relax and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 8: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali Airport
After breakfast, drive to Kigali Airport for your outbound flight.
