Uganda is a celebrated epitome of tourism with a diverse pool of cultures, interesting traditions, and ways of life. Uganda is home to half of the existing mountain gorillas and visitors will have the opportunity to trek and observe them enjoy their lives in their natural habitat.
Visitors will also get to explore the magnificent Masai Mara game reserve which is a renowned home to the big 5 animals. Detailed itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by a tourist guide and then embark on the journey to the hotel in Entebbe where you will be accommodated for the rest of the day as you enjoy the views of the lake and lush flora.
Dinner will be served at the lodging facility, and you will have rest overnight as you prepare for the upcoming adventures the next day.
Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will wake up to a scrumptious breakfast in the wee hours of the morning at the hotel after which you will embark on the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which will take you approximately 10 hours while you enjoy breathtaking views of the countryside. En route to the National Park will be a stopover at Kayabwe equator spot where you will indulge in the Coriolis effects to enjoy the equilibrium of the earth.
Continue with the journey up to Igongo cultural center in Mbarara where you will be served a delicious local dish to keep you energetic on the journey. Proceed on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and on arrival you will check in at the lodge and relax in the evening as you enjoy the views of the towering forest. Dinner will be served at sunset, and you will rest overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
At break of the day, you will be served breakfast at the lodge after which you will get briefed about the dos and don’ts while on the gorilla trek by the Rangers of the National Park just before you enter the jungle for the exciting activity. The rangers will then accompany you into the jungle to trek the exciting gentle giants. This exciting activity will go on from the morning up to the afternoon depending on the location of the gorilla families.
Have ample time to enjoy your encounter with the gentle giants and learn and unlearn things about them. Transfer back to the lodge in the afternoon for lunch. Relax at the premises of the lodge as you enjoy the views of the canopies of the forests and other primates therein especially the black and white colobus monkeys, golden monkeys to mention but a few. Dinner will be served at sunset, and you will rest overnight.
Day 4: Fly from Bwindi (Kihiihi airstrip) to Entebbe International Airport and onward to Masai Mara via Kisumu.
Have breakfast upon waking up at sunrise at the lodging facility and then check out of the lodge to embark on the drive to Kihiihi airstrip on the outskirts of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. At the airstrip, you will catch the flight to Entebbe International Airport. On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will get on board for an onward flight to Masai Mara National Reserve through Kisumu.
Enjoy the views of the East African captivating landforms as you fly above them, on arrival in Masai Mara you will check in at the lodging facility and get served delicious meals. An evening walk will be conducted under the guidance of the Rangers in the surroundings of the lodge to equip you with opportunities to spot some of the exciting creatures inhabiting the reserve especially common warthogs, zebras, giraffes, elands and birds, especially lanner falcons, hammerkops, African fish eagles, turacos, Abyssinian ground hornbill, black bee eaters, cinnamons, egrets, vultures, hadada ibis, African paradise flycatchers, African darters and jacanas. Transfer back to the lodge at twilight for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Full-day game drives
Breakfast will be served at the crack of dawn at the lodge after which you will embark on a guided morning game drive in the northern parts of the national reserve. This game drive will present visitors with an opportunity to set their eyes on the most exciting creatures in the reserve especially the cheetahs, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, hartebeests, Defassa waterbucks, elands, and wildebeests. Watching thousands of wildebeests migrate is such an unforgettable experience and indeed worthwhile. Drive back to the lodge in the afternoon for lunch.
An afternoon continuation of the game drives in the central parts will then be conducted it will allow one to observe more of the endowments of the reserve. Head back to the lodge at sunset relax, have dinner, and have a restful night.
Day 6: Hot air balloon adventure and cultural tour, evening game drive.
Have an early morning breakfast at the lodge and embark on the exhilarating hot air balloon adventure that will present to you the aerial view of the breathtaking Masai Mara National Reserve. Soar above the dry savanna grasslands as they observe the unique creatures living therein, especially the African Bush elephants, African buffaloes, Defassa waterbucks, elands, lions, leopards, and beautiful scenery.
The activity will go on up to high noon when you will transfer back to the lodge to have lunch. Drive to the Masai community in the national reserve where you will have exciting cultural entertainment and a delve into the traditions and way of life of the Masai people. Interact with the local people and later at sunset transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 7: Masai Mara game reserve to Nairobi. City tour.
Breakfast at sunrise, after which you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Nairobi that will take you approximately 5 hours and 20 minutes. On arrival in Nairobi, you will check in at the hotel and get served a delicious lunch.
After lunch, you will undertake a Nairobi city tour where you’ll have the opportunity to explore some of the most exciting areas in Nairobi especially the Giraffe Center, and National Museum of Kenya where you will have the opportunity to view some of the most exciting artifacts and learn about the history of Kenya and her inhabitants in the afternoon and later at sunset transfer back to the hotel to have dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Departure
Arise at the crack of dawn, get served breakfast, and thereafter transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight back home and this will be the end of the exploration adventure.
